Meet Sid & Darlene Cyca
For Sid and Darlene Cyca, owners of The Cariboo Hotel, business is all about family. In fact, The Cariboo Hotel has been family owned and operated by the same family since 1969 when Darlene’s father, Dennis Law moved his family to Quesnel and purchased the Hotel. The Cycas are proud to continue this family tradition that many in Quesnel have grown up with and come to call their own favourite place to kick back and relax.
Sid and Darlene and their family confess that coming to work is never boring. “Every day is different,” says Darlene. But ultimately it is the people they serve that make their job fun and fulfilling.
The Cycas have seen many changes throughout the years within the town, many of them positive. They hope that the town continues to change and grow and are grateful to their regular patrons for helping them be able to not just stay in business but to grow their business for more than four decades.
History. Community. Culture.
The historic Cariboo Hotel building was first built in 1865 as a log structure housing a brewery and is now well known both locally and abroad for the excellent food served in its pub. Its cold beer and wine store supplies thirsty patrons with a variety of beers, wines, coolers and other alcohol products. Live bands are a regular feature and the pub also hosts numerous special events throughout the year. Stop in for a drink or a meal and enjoy great company, friendly service and a fun dose of local history and culture.
