A) You operate a business, non-profit or charity that sells retail goods and or provides services.

B) Your business is NOT a franchise, direct sales enterprise, distributorship or branded dealership.

C) Your business or organization is owned and operated in Northern British Columbia.

Meet Marilene Bleau

Marilene Bleau owned an embroidery shop in her former home town of Quebec City. When she moved to Quesnel she decided to take a break from the business. Soon, however, she realized how much she missed doing embroidery. "I love what I do!" Marilene says of the art, so she went back into the business, opening a smaller-scale shop out of her home. She has all of the necessary equipment to embroider virtually anything onto all kinds of different products, fabrics and surfaces.

Marilene appreciates the freedom and the flexibility that owning her own small business provides. She is able to work her schedule around other things that are important to her or work non-traditional business hours if needed. She is especially grateful for the privilege of making an income doing an art that she loves. It is always very rewarding to Marilene to step back and look at a finished item and say "I love it, it's so beautiful!"

Marilene felt very welcomed to the community when she moved here. "People are so kind here," she says. "They like to help out. It's like a big a family." She is thankful for being embraced as a fellow community member and for the support her business has received.
